You should get the machine serviced. You should not get any electrical current from any part of the laptop (metal or not) while it is operating in any mode including AC. ... JD Hurst

I have experienced the same problem with both of my machines, T41p and now the T43p. It feels like a uncorrmatable low voltage discharge that happens from time to time :? . I have never determined the combination of necassary elements to reproduce the effect, but I have always assumed that it was due as much to me as the machine, ie resulting from static build up, sythentic clothing, bad electrical earthing etc.......

Unfortunately I cannot provide any solution to the problem, although I can confirm that neither of my machines has ever appeared to suffer as a consequence to this problem. :)

It would *really* help if *all* members would post their geographic locations. If you are in Canada, your power brick came with a non-polarized AC plug that will work worldwide with the proper physical adapter. Earthing has nothing to with it (although, yes, if you build up personal static, it will discharge on your laptop). ... JD Hurst

I believe the phenomenon results from the static electricity carried by me,because this never happen when i wear the clothes made by cotton.
these day i brought me a new wear which made by sythesis fiber and i often get an electric shock when i touch something.
My location is Bejing,China.
Since this has nothing to do with the earthing.i belive the static electricity is the origin.
:) Thanx
