How long will take to have return call from return dept.?

I'm considering to return my Thinkpad, which is still
under 30 days from purchase.
I tried to call to return department, and voice box asked me to record
my name and order number etc..(When did they change the system?)

And they are supposed to give me call within 4-6 hours.
It's almost 6 hrs and I don't know how long it will usally
take to have their response.

It's annoying that I cannot talk with representive person
directly anymore.

Well, it really depends where you are; are you in the US? I haven't had any problems with them so far. It has been mentioned that the levels of service vary from one place to another.

I noticed that also - its not just the RMA system, but the whole customer service department.

When I called them last week, it took about 4 hours to get the callback.

Possibly, the customer service department is overwhelmed with customers trying to find out why thier new thinkpads are stuck in USCustoms.

What model Thinkpad do you have? Since its so new, maybe you want to consider selling it?

When I had to return something to IBM, I simply emailed them my request and details about what my intentions were, within about half a day, they replied back to me with an RMA# and a date in which UPS would be stopping by. No phone call needed. Then about two weeks after that I received the credit in my bank account. I was surprised how easy this was.
