"voices" on computer- help!: )
Hi guys, loving my T41. Let me know if you want to know anything specific. Anyways, this isn't IBM related, but does anyone know of a software that periodically says stuff. I have heard coming from my computer "Yipee" and "Let me out" I know that sounds crazy, but I assume it is in something. I have Eudora and Mailwasher, and AOL IM.
I figured you tech people my know. Doesn't really bother me, but curious.

the voices
I am not joking - they sound like something that would be in AOL Instant Messenger - like it would let you record a sound when you are on and then leave.. nothing creepy! But I checked my IM options and don't see that anywhere. Hasn't done it in a few hours. Oh well. keeps the day interesting!

I am betting it's AIM. They got these stupid little voices, are you running it in the background? If so kill it and all will be quiet.MelissaBF wrote:Hi guys, loving my T41. I'm betting it has to do with AOL Instant Messenger. You can set it up so that when you sign on or IM someone, if they have sounds playing or alerts, it will play the sound clip.
IBM ThinkPad T42 (2378-FVU), 14.1" SXGA, ATI 9600, 512MB, 40GB, DVD-ROM/CDRW, 6 cell and 9 cell battery, Waterfield bag (sfbags.com)
Mystery Solved
Yes it was IM... two people on buddy list have "sayings" -- thanks for your help. See I'm not crazy : )

Re: Mystery Solved
Nice to hear you found the problem. Having voices from your TP could become a problem. <vbg>
