X31 won't boot from battery!

#1 Post by tselling » Tue Nov 15, 2005 12:29 pm

I have an X31 that will not boot from its battery. If I plug in AC, it will boot and as soon as it starts booting I can pull the AC and it will run on battery. Battery lasts a couple of hours. Any ideas on this one? Any chance its just the battery? Or does it sound like a systemboard problem?

Hey.. I had exactly the same problem!

I was sent a new battery and it didn't help. Also I took it into a thinkcentre and it didn't help.

When I updated my BIOS the problem went away. I would suggest doing that. I think there is a patch that will fix this problem.

Also there is a detailed thread that I started when I had problems. If you search im sure you will find it. Look around Fall 04.

Thanks but bios was already most recent one. I back-leveled one version and didnt help to reflashed to current. Still the same. I looked at the thred from last year but looked like you basically kept replacing the battery?

Well i had the battery replaced twice with no help. Actually I called tech support first and they sent me a new battery. When that didn't work I took it in for servicing, they beat up my poor thinkpad and told me that the battery ( the new one!) was defective so they replaced it again. That didn't help. I called service again and re-flased bios and updated software.. and then it was fine...

If that doesn't work I don't know. Call them and see if they will fix it for you. Is it still under warranty?

Sure there is, the X32.
