if they stopped making my model of thinkpad and it "breaks down" will they replace it with a new model if they don't have the parts to fix it?

IBM (as I have known them for some decades now) has always had parts for in-warranty machines. They have had parts for serviceable machines much beyond warranty (power supply in my venerable PC300PL desktop). Of course, it may happen that parts may not be available for your machine, but I would not bet on it. ... JD Hurst
