T43 Keyboard - Normal wear and tear?

#1 Post by rxl77 » Wed Nov 16, 2005 12:07 am

I've had my T43 since late May 2005. I have the infamous problem on the right side keys aren't seated properly (arrow keys, enter key, shift key are slightly raised and make a loud thack noise when depressed). I never bothered to open the laptop and do the busiiness card/napkin fix. I figured it wasn't worth the hassle.

Anyway, now November 2005, about half a year later, I can start to feel the keyboard not being as solid. The arrow keys are noticeably more weaker and starting to move more, and I can start to feel the keyboard being more flimsy around the "O" "P" [, ] , period, comma, and Backspace keys.

Has this happened to anyone else with their keyboard? Where it's beginning to degrade slowly?

Additionally, I always felt my T43 wasn't built as solidly as it should be. Like my left and right palmrests have slight creaks, and they depress. And also the middle touchpad button (the one you use for scrolling in conjunction with the trackpoint) is starting to make noises when depressed. Just feels like this T43 is starting to wear down a little bit. I generally take very good care of my T43.

what can I do to improve my keyboard? Will IBM service this? Or am i being too picky? BTW mine is the NMB Thai keyboard too.
