Does this T43 model exist? (or will it soon?)

#1 Post by FrancisB » Wed Nov 16, 2005 1:34 pm

Hi,

I'm looking to replace A Dell M600, and love the build quality of the T30's at work.

I think I'd like to get a T43, but the choices and configurations don't seem to give me what I want. How often does Lenovo change configurations, or is it even possible to build the system I'd like?

- T43 14.1" form factor
- 1.86Ghz M processor
- 1 G memory
- which wireless card? Not sure of the difference between the 2 Intel cards
- bluetooth would be highly desired; Is this something I'd have to add myself?
- 60/80G HD, ideally at 7200rpm
- ATI graphics (x300)
- fingerprint reader nice, but not vital

I'm looking to make this a dual boot system between XP and Linux (ubuntu most likely).

I've seen in some people's sigs that they have this configuration (or almost like it).

Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated.

Regards,
Francis

Possibly, but you can CTO one anyways.
If you can't find one, just find a memory upgrade
2915 does A/B/G
2200 does B/G
Use the Thinkpad option ones, Intel cards hate specific routers
Bluetooth - I think they have a model like that
Theres an 80GB 7200 RPM HDD I think, that or its 60GB, no idea
X300 is pretty standard for a non p model

For Wifi the IBM a/b/g II adapter might be a better choice because the Atheros chipset is supported very well in Linux (madwifi driver). I can't say anything about Intel Wifi support.

You will need a CTO model. Apparently they are shipping the 100GB 7200rpm drive these days with CTO models.
