T42 display / connection problem

My T42 has started to give me issues. The screen will blank unless I press the case down by the touch pad or by the becakspace key and it comes back..if I press hard it stays on until it vanishes again. The keyboard also has intermitent problems and will not accept keystrokes. I assume a loose connection somewhere?
