jerky touch pad scrolling

#1 Post by mtroxel » Fri Nov 18, 2005 7:14 am

So I'm new to ThinkPads. I made myself try the stick for a while....but for me it just doesn't do as much as well as a touch pad that is set up for all the scrolling features and tap zones. I can just tap in the lower right to maximize the screen, or scroll from the top of a long web page all the way to the bottom with just one finger movement.

But the IBM/Synaptics software made touchpad scrolling awkward. It's jerky and sort of rachet-like. So I uninstalled the IBM touchpad driver, and installed one from another laptop maker, Averatec. It's still Synaptics' software but now I'm back to a touch pad that works smoothly.

jerky scrolling/smooth scrolling, no horizontal in Opera/FF

#2 Post by experttease » Thu Aug 23, 2007 12:59 pm

I think I have the same problem, it's been annoying the crap out of me for ages. It all seemed to work in Opera 8.54, and firefox for a while too, but not anymore. Any chance you could direct me to that driver of yours? I can't believe it hasn't been fixed yet, I've had this thinkpad for 3 years...

Yea, just uninstall the IBM touchpad driver....I think they call it UltraPad...not sure....then download this straight from Synaptics. It works much better.
