IBM Hardware Maintenance Utility-Invaid machine type error

#1 Post by luisy2k » Fri Nov 18, 2005 9:15 am

Hello you all.

I recently bought a used T23 and when trying to use the software installer utility, I get the 'Invalid Machine type' error. Upon checking the Bios, I found out that it doesn't show the serial number and model number.

I understand that there is an utility program that would allow me to enter this information. I would greatly appreciate is someone could email me this utility. (luisy2k@excite.com)

Thanks to all...

Thanks to you all who replied to my post. I had followed K2's post and got the SWI working however I could never get the BIOS model and serial number fixed. I tried the fix with the 1.69 IBM Hardware Maintenance Utility and could not get it to work. Oh well, I guess I can live without it.

Thanks again to all who replied.

You can try the BIOS updated diskette and the Embedded Controller Program just to see if that will work.
