"Lazy," not dead pixels?
"Lazy," not dead pixels?
Got my thinkpad, absolutely love it!
At first I thought there were zero dead pixels. Then, I had one hot pixel burn bright white in the middle of the screen. I thought I didn't notice it because most web pages are windows are white, but there it was, highly visible against dark backgrounds. Oh well, I was going to live with it.
Except, now it's gone! I'm pretty sure I'm not imagining things. Do pixels have a tendency to go bad, then good, then bad again? Is this a sign that it might fail randomly, or permanently after some time?

Stuck pixel can be temporary, dead pixels are for keeps...
at least, this is my experience.
Have none of either on my new T41p - pure luck

I just noticed a similiar issue. When I first turn on the laptop as the initial IBM splash screen comes up the right and bottom edge of the lcd flashes red for about 3 seconds before fading away. If I look closely for that 3 seconds I can see the individual red pixels interspersed among the black ones. There are a few hundred of them at least. It only seems to occur when I initially turn on the computer. I'm not sure if it's worth sending back because of it.
This white pixel was caused by the ultranav driver I think. It appears anywhere sometime and only goes away when clicking the 3rd mousebutton (the scroll button of the trackpoint) and restarting the machine. If you touch the pixel with tthe mouse pointer, it turns to a hand you get when hovering over a hyperlink. Weird, must be a bug.
You're kidding me! That's weird. Oh well, it hasn't come back yet, so out of almost 2 million pixels, so far zero are truly dead! I'm keeping my fingers crossed...vpn-user wrote:This white pixel was caused by the ultranav driver I think.
