R30 (type 2656) has any Wi-Fi mini PCI card option?

#1 Post by wonderboy1 » Sat Nov 19, 2005 11:34 pm

I have IBM thinkpad R30(2656), and I wanted to have wireless internet connection, so I bought "ActionTec 802MIP Wi-Fi 802.11b/56K Wi-Fi+Modem Combo MINI PCI Card" from eBay. However, this thing is not working at all. I tried everything, but it can't find signal from my router. I found the driver from IBM website, and I installed the driver.

I believe ActionTec 802MIP, and its driver are so outdated, so it can't support current WEP or something. I have Netgear wireless router(MR814).

Is anybody using ActionTec 820MIP on R30 without any problem?

Now, I am thinking buying Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200BG.
It will be compatible with R30?

I believe if your machine didn't originally come equipped with wifi you will have to install antennas as well as the card.
