I played with the Z60t at Office Depot yesterday
Yesterday I walked into my local Office Depot and on display was a T43 and Z60t Thinkpad. They were sitting side by side so it was easy to see and feel the diferences between them. In the few minutes that I played with the Z60t I have to say I was not extremely impressed, the display was especially disappointing to me. When you see the Z60t display sitting next to less expensive notebook PC's with much brighter and sharper displays even the possible better build quality of the Thinkpad doesn't mean that much. This is a small thing but the new power and volume buttons look out of place on the black Thinkpad and I miss the red border on the nav buttons, it added a little character. Also the finger print reader is integrated into the T43 nicer than the Z60t, the metal showing around the finger print reader on the Z60t is ugly. The price of $1999 for a 1.73GHz PM is also pretty high IMO. Anyway this is just my take you may feel differently. It's great that now you can go and play with a Thinkpad before purchasing one!
Z60T
I agree, the new grey buttons make the Z60T look cheep. The screen was a great dissapointment as well. I would spend the the dough on this series if they gave me dedicated graphics, higher res screen and monitor output. I could care less about the titanium cover, IMHO my T21 looks much better than all the new thinkpads. Solid and still going strong with Sxga and a Pentium III 850.

I should add that although the glossy screens have great sharpness and contrast, many people quickly get a headache from the glare. Having seen both the glossy and matte displays, I would take the dimmer matte display for work every time.

Yeah. 1280x768 is hardly any better than 1024x768. 1440x900 would allow for adequate side-by-side document viewing.
