#1 Post by sirPercival » Sun Nov 20, 2005 12:36 pm

Hi, I just had a disk crasch :( on my T23 (2647-3QG) and am looking for a new one. What brand, type, and size of internal HDD can I use ?
Where can I buy one at the best price, with international delivery (I am from Sweden) ?

You can use virtually any notebook hard drive. I prefer Hitachi's but others may disagree. I think the 5k100 is the best bang for the buck (or Kroner). International shipping is iffy, but you can get a 40g from Inet in Sweden for 870 kr. If you can find someone to ship they're about $70-75 US.

You can find other options for Hitachi drives in Sweden at http://www.hitachigst.com/portal/site/e ... Submit.y=8

:)

I have use a few laptop drives over the last 12 months. Samsung, Toshiba, Hitachi, and Seagate. I would avoid Samsung, it crashed even when it was new.

Seagate momentus, 5400.2 model is excellent and at a very good price. You can get the 7200.1 model now, very expensive though, improvement i don't think is more than 30%, maybe even less. 5400.2 model is very quiet and as fast as 5400 Hitachi model as well. I have 2 units now....with 5 years warranty from Seagate and 3 yrs from Hitachi.

Toshiba model is slower even though it has 16mB cache.
Hi everyone
