invalid machine type

#1 Post by saddog » Sun Nov 20, 2005 3:32 pm

Maybe someone can help. I did a system board replacement. No serial number and no machine type in Bio's. The bio's update only allows the last 3 digets. IBM support was no help. What i understand there is a maintance program where you can update this info in the bio's. If someone could spare a copy. Let me know what is needed. jgfusco3@yahoo.com

Do a search on this forum for "HMD" and you will find several threads discussiong this problem and solutions. Basically, using google you should be able to find and download an older version of the program you need that should work.

Thank you so much. I made a floppy, but have no floppy drive. For the past 8 hrs I been trying to use a cd or usb 128mb stick. I find there are programs out there to make it bootable. But the disk becomes bootable but not the program. On my other computer with a floppy I the program works. I don't have nero. I tried CDburner xp, Record Now, Flash boot. Virtual floppy drive, real neet. That made a floppy A drive.
Any suggestions will be a +.

I did that, Thanks very much. I was able to place the serial # in the cpu card serial number. I want to update the machine type. That is system serial #. But how exactly do you input the number so it shows when I update the bios, change machine type. Thanks to everyone for all your help

I got it. I needed to enter (S1) like S12373Q2U9912345. Everything works. Thanks everyone for your help.
Some crazy questions, what does DC/DC and the other functions do?
