Video out to SCART not working

#1 Post by Chris N » Tue Nov 22, 2005 7:58 am

Have a T23 and am trying to relay DVD which is working fine on the T23 out to a TV monitor. I have a connection lead with SCART on the TV end and S-video and audio jackplug on the laptop end.

Selection the correct AV2 or AV2S input on the TV gets no sound or picture. I have followed Thinkpad instructions on selecting lower resolution screen output and tried SCART connection into other TVs.

Using audio inputs to the TV (not SCART) works to the speakers OK. I don't have an S-video to S-video lead so haven't tried that yet and am loath to spend the money having bought the SCART lead which ought to work.

What am I missing?

TV out success at last

#3 Post by Chris N » Thu Dec 15, 2005 12:21 pm

Thanks to Gomjabber for the links about SCART connections which show what a minefield this connectivity is.

I've finally cracked it. I've abandoned the SCART route altogether as I never got a picture at all on the TV whatever I tried.

Finally found the TV only and TV+LCD button at top left of the ThinkPad Utilities having seached in vain for ages through all the Control Panel Display options and F7 screen change options.

I'm now using S-Video (the 4 pin version) from ThinkPad to S-Video in the AV3 sockets on my TV. Choosing AV3 on the TV menu gives black and white but choosing AV3S (another click on the AV3 button on the remote handset) gives glorious technicolour at last.

Need to set the screen resolution to 800/600 otherwise the image on the TV is oversize.

At last I have a working DVD player (ThinkPad runnning Cyberlink PowerDVD) driving the TV in colour with sound. I also have a SCART to S-Video and 2 x audio lead in my rubbish bin.

I'm glad you got the problem licked. I enjoy watching DVD's from my ThinkPad to my TV as well. I never have messed with SCART myself. I just remembered reading the threads about it, so I was happy to point you to them.
