Troubles installing RNR and BSOD

#1 Post by Rune B » Wed Nov 23, 2005 3:54 am

Hi,

just found this forum, and looks great.. Now, i have bought the x41 (2525-3CG) 1,5GHz, 1 GB PC4200, 40 GB 4200 rpm, no fingerprint reader nor bluetooth..
I have downloadet the ThinkVantage Rescue and Recovery utility, but at install i get this error message:

http://putfile.com/pic.php?pic=11/3260237048

Is this because the old IBM Rescue and Recovery is still installed, or how do i fix this?? I have downloadet the package like 5 times, so no error in the download..

My next problem is that i randomly will get a BSOD, i can't tell you whats on it, but i found this on IBM support:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-61451

I have downloadet the file and put it in the specified folder, my thougts just told me that it wasn't the sollution, 'cause i do not have the SMB Device Hub in my Device manager ?!?

I hope that you will be able to help, as this is a really nice notebook in my oppinion, just annoying with theese to errors..

Why don't you just use the Thinkpad Software Installer that will install all needed drivers automatically.

BTW, the current RR is version 3.

Cheers,
:)

I do use the Thinkpad Software Installer, but looked at the online support, aftter som advice from the IBM Personal Support..

And i know that the latest version is 3.0, the problem is that i can't install this version, i do currently have the IBM Rescue and Recovery with Rapid Restore, do i have to uninstall this, before installing v. 3??

Hello,
If you do a bit of reading in the instructions to instal RNR 3.0, it specifies that the older version has to be deleted first.

Good luck. JP.
Two Thinkpads G-41.
Thinkpad i Series 1200 and 3 1300.
Thinkpad 365 XD ( exchanged for a $100 rebate ).
All on WiFi and Ultra VNC. Have fun ! I do.
