T42 shut down problem

Did anyone experience non-responding problem SMAX4pnp.exe when you try to shut down your Thinkpad?

It's annoying that everytime I shut down my T42, the pop-up message prevent the shut down process, asking me to manually close the program. Help for fix!

disable the soundmax tray icon, helps

settings, control panel, sound max
