that means that the version listed to the left is the most recent version and is already installed.

care to elaborate a bit?

i've never seen AC running silently... what happens if you launch it from the start menu?

what version of AC is installed? 3.81 or 4.0?

If it makes you feel any better, the <-- threw me off the first or second night of Thinkpadhood, too. I thought items listed had to be updated, not that the third (?) column indicated what action was needed.

if it were me.. i would remove AC. restart. reinstall AC. restart. see what you've got then. AC shouldn't be running silently.

i've seen a lot of wierd things happen between AC and wireless cards (mainly the 2200bg card), but i've never seen AC just flat out hide itself.

what about fn + f5 and then click onthe open access connections button at the bottom? what about the profile tab in fn + f5? does that do anything?

nope fn+f5 doesn't work, launches but its hidden. i have the 2100B card. it has to be conflicting with something for sure. i just did a clean install and it would actually open but i couldnt control the powerstate, then after adding more ibm stuff it stopped opening in general. kinda given up but will try anything.

Access Connections, 3.81, on my T43, has a little icon in the system tray (I think XP calls it the "notification tray" or something like that), that little "dessert cart" at the end of the Taskbar by the clock. It indicates connection state, and you can left-click and select connection state, etc.

Do you see it?
