?Make Recovery CD's with T30?

#1 Post by Kyocera » Wed Nov 23, 2005 6:01 pm

I have looked all through my t30 and the only thing I can find as far as recovery tools is the boot floppy. I still have the recovery partition in tact but cannot find anything in the R&R environment about making recovery CD's. Any help appreciated :o

T30 recovery

FWIW, my T30 hard drive went bad under warranty. They sent me a "new" HD and three (3) recovery disks. Is it likely that 3 disks' worth of data is resident on your HD?

Yes, I have the recovery partition in tact and have used it once already, however, I would like to make a set of recovery cd's like I did with my t42. Just asking because I have heard it is possible

What about creating an image of your drive using a program like Norton Ghost or Acronis?

I have another 40gig with a factory image on it that I made with ghost, as a backup and another 20gig with xandros, plus the original 40 gig. I can't do my job without a functioning lapster.

This is just more curiosity, because like I said it seems as though I have read somewhere that you can make recovery cd's with the t30. I also looked on the IBM site and can't find any reference to purchasing the cd's through them so maybe someone knows for sure. :?:

I believe that you can, with R&R, but like I said before (in the PM) you would still need a CDRW.

OK, well been putting off buying one but now I guess I have somewhat of an excuse to get one.

tfflivemb2, you were absolutely right, finally found this on the IBM web site:

If you have a CDRW or CDRW/DVDRW drive, Rescue and Recovery may be used to create a personalized backup on CDs or DVDs, that includes all of your added software, setting changes, and data files.

Thanks :)
