I have a T22 and T23 both are EXCELLENT, in so many ways, make, finishing, support etc, to ask anyone here, both are excellent value at the moment. You will not regret it.

I bought a refurbished T23 recently in Australia @ 256Mb, 1.2G, 40G HD, at US$330, it is like new, excellent value, it will good for use for at least 1-2 years until the next refurbished model,eg T42 that will be released and suffciently cheap enough for me to buy.

I don't play games, hence their specs. are suffcient for me. I don't use my desktop anymore. For $330, I get an LCD screen and a computer as well.
Hi everyone

That's quite unfortunate...I've had no problems with my R40 (specs below - 2722-AGU I believe). I find it durable and sturdy, and have yet to have any problems whatsoever. I can even run older games that I like to play (Enemy Territory, Half Life, etc). I do run a legit copy of XP on it, but everything else is non legit :).

I agree - I do believe the T's and X's are better built, but for my use the R40 has stood up very well over the last (nearly) 2 years. It's as upgradable as any other Thinkpad line and performs well for the price. It sounds like maybe the original owner of this particular machine didn't take very good care of the unit...hopefully the seller will do the right thing by you...

Running pirated software is never a good thing really. Sounds like you had one of those bad experiences. I bought a t42 a year ago for my job and have used it every work day since, that is until I got a T30. Got the T30 from IBM certified used site as a back up in case mine got stolen or crashed hard. I paid 775 US. It is a great machine.

For the amount you paid for the R40, you should be able to find something you will be happy with.
