thinkpad trackpoint issues with mobile 3g/gprs datacard

#1 Post by vikingboy » Sat Nov 26, 2005 5:26 pm

I have been using my IBM laptop for a good few months now and no probems. Recently I noticed that when my mobile phone would ring when someone called the mouse cursor would move in time with the signal the phone was receiving (you can hear it through speakers when a phone is near speakers).

I got round this by leaving my phone a couple of feet away from the laptop.

I recently bought a o2 data card for 3G/GPRS web access whilst on the move and this is doing the same thing! I cant move it away because it docks in the pcmcia slot!!!!

when no traffic flows then the cursor behaves perfectly....when traffic flows in or out the cursor takes on a mind of its own which I have to fight against to get it where I want it to go! It only moves down and left when send/receive of data is occuring......

why would radio signals or phone communications move the cursor??? Any ideas where to even start troubleshooting this one would be very much appreciated!

Is this on a T43 or a T42? That is interference from RF Waves. Are you upto date on the UltraNav Driver?

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

I have a T42 and am using a Sony Ericsson GC83 GPRS/EDGE PCMCIA card with none of the problems you are experiencing. By any chance have you turned off your WiFi connection before using your GPRS card? It might make a difference. BTW, I have the Intel 2200BG WiFi card.
