What's the largest Hard Disk any has installed into a 380Z?

Older ThinkPads.. from the 600, the 7xx, the iSeries, 300, 500, the Transnote and, of course, the 701

Hi, (newbie)

Just wondering what the largest HDD anyone has managed to install into a 380Z with Windows. (Assume you would have to use something like Disk Manager to get around the 8Gb limit.)

I've seen a few post claiming 20Gb & 30Gb, although these days the price point for new hard drives seems to be well into the 80-100Gb sizes.

So what the hell, I'm wondering if this let see if baby can handle it!

Unless does anyone know if DDO's like Disk Manager have an upper limit?

Thanks

I recommend you choose a HITACHI 5K100 5400 8MB 40GB harddisk. (by DM.)

If I'm not mistaken, the ThinkPad 380Z has the 440BX chipset which can support just about any size hard drive on the market today so I'd go for whatever drive suits you best and not worry too much about the computer recognizing it.
ThinkPad T60: 2GHZ CD T2500, 3gb RAM, 14.1" XGA, 60gb 7k100, Win 7 Ult
Latitude E7250: i5 5300U 2.3ghz, 12gb RAM, 12" 1080p touch, 256gb SSD, Win 10

Maybe I was just lucky, but I used to own a 380XD. I installed a 20gb with no issues, no bios flash, no special overlay software.

I lost that laptop (damaged) in a fire, but the very same hardrive now occasionally lives in my 600X

This drive happens to be an IBM Travelstar IC25N020ATDA04-0

Hi all,

I've just managed to get a 100Gb Toshiba (MK1032GAX) workign with XPSSP2.

(Before anyone asks, the choice of HDD was more due to the lack of other stock, but it's got a16Mb cache which isn't bad)

Thanks all for your help.
