Hexmagic?
Hi all,
Every time I boot up my T23, a Hardware Found screen opens with the name "Hexmagic". I did a number of searches for it and found, mostly, the website of the guy that wrote MobileMonitor, the cpu temp/speed utility.
This thing has been trying to install for a couple of weeks and I keep cancelling it while I seach for just what this is... Has anyone else seen this, or know what it is? It isnt a file(worm, trojan, .vbs). I've done miultiple virus/spyware scans using a number of scanners and nothing was found, but this thig still bugs me to install. All it says is:
"Allow Windows to search for software to install Hexmagic"?
This time,
Every time,
Not this time?
???
whaddaIdo?

Sounds very suspicious. It would appear by that site that you would have to purposely go to it and click to download that tool. Is it showing up in the add/remove programs? In the past when I've had problems with programs they need to be fully installed to be successfully uninstalled, not knowing much about this program makes that sound like walking into a minefield. Two weeks is a long time to do a system restore. Kaspersky has a free on line scan that is very good. Takes a little time to download though (not for dial-up).
Maybe a third party software uninstaller like systemworks or others.
Edit:
That tool is advertised on the softpedia site, I have used some of their freeware stuff before with no adverse issues. I'd download the file, scan it with your AV and also create a restore point prior to anything for safety, if you have SR turned off just enable it and create a restore point. Install the program and use it's uninstaller or add/remove programs.
