Well.. as i'm sitting here... I'm still disappointed without my Thinkpad.
I called in last Monday and was assured that a shipment would be coming in that Friday, and that i was 26 out of 29 on the waiting list.
I call back again on Monday (yesterday) and was told that It was going to be another 2 weeks. Sigh

Sorry to hear that...
(FYI) I recv'd (2)-2511E6U & (1)-2511E4U

Btw, I'm still swamped and have yet to fire up one of these babies. I hope to look into the Bluetooth module next week. I'll keep you posted.

I hope your order shows up soon!

Well... it seems like the more you call in ...
The more prompt service you get...
As annoying as it may sound... I called in once or twice a week checking up on my status of my Z60T.

Well its finally arrived.
I was told end of February.. but when i called in again on the 28th, i was told another 2 weeks.
I called in on Friday 3rd and a rep followed up on why it was taking so long and appoligized for the wait.

Monday and UPS shows up with my package :)

I've had time to fire mine alright...
I used it for a few hours and started customizing it.. (Thinkpad software).
Installed all the programs i need and just copied some music files over.

Overall.. pretty good build.
I like how the hinges are metal and add some "Style" to the look of the notebook. Other than that.. i've had a few minor issues...

Power button isn't that responsive... had to press on it hard.
My OS doesn't restart when i tell it to... it just shuts down...

Other than that... no major problems...

I ordered direct from Lenovo, as they allow a 30 day period for return if you are not happy. Plus, I was given a discount saving me $500 as opposed to a few resellers that had them in stock.

My order went in 2/27 and I recieved the computer 3/7.
Z60M 25316FU. This is a great computer. Solid, good keyboard, great display, quiet and fast. I'm adding another 1 gig of ram. This Z measures up to my admittedly high expectations quite nicely.

This is the first wide screen notebook I have owned and it's really nice when working with a few windows open at once.

Update

#37 Post by PutnamJct » Fri Mar 17, 2006 7:05 am

Mine arrived in my hands on 3/10 (as opposed to shipping on 3/10) via USPS Red from China been using it non stop since then.
This replaced my T23 that's backilight decided to retire.

Overall excellent machine. No noise, bright screen, no bad pixels at all, seems to be built very well.

Only 2 things I am not a fan of:
The extra touch pad and mouse buttons and the DVD drive which seems a little flimsy when loading disks.

for what it's worth

I ordered my Z60m on December 31st and got it January 20th. But only after several angry phone calls to Lenovo.

A couple of issues came out in the course of my talks with them. They clearly have communications problems with the factory in China. But the other issue, that I heard about from two people (one a supervisor) was that US Customs in San Francisco was sitting on their shipments. The machines would arrive in the US and sit for days to a week. No one had a good reason as to why this was and they didn't seem to want to talk about it much but it came up in two conversations when I was pressing people hard.

So I got three different ship dates, all of them wrong, from the sales force. In the end, it shipped a week earlier than I expected. And once it left Shanghai, it was in my hands in a day and a half, going through Anchorage Alaska to Lexington Ky to Neward Airport.

Not sure this helps but the machine is terrific. Worth the wait.

Same here. Shanghai to NY in about 48 hours through Alaska & KY.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARG! Mine got pushed back another week -- AGAIN! Ordered it 2/20, said to ship 3/15, then 3/22, anod 3/29. My first z60m actually arrived 1 day early: It was shipped in 20 days, and somehow it got upgraded to one-day express shipping fro Shanghai to San Francisco!

I returned it due to dead pixels, and WinXP Pro was cheaper (I picked Home before), and the DVDR was only a $0.90 upgrade on their EPP website, plus free shipping! I ordered via the phone the first time, paid $30 shipping.

I just called them, and they confirmed that all the parts are available, so it's possible that some of the parts weren't available before. Seriously, just ship me the parts, and I'll put build the laptop myself!
