Access IBM is not working?!! what to dooo

#1 Post by john8916 » Wed Nov 30, 2005 3:04 pm

Good Day,
i really there is somebody who can help me.
I try to reset my IBM thinkpad r50p – meaning getting it back to the original and reinstalling the original firmware from the heard disk.
Now my problem:
When I restart my thinkpad and press the “access IBM” button to go in to the predesktop are, it’s not working at all. I cant start this access IBMN software. I try to reinstall the access IBM software from the IBM homepage, but it’s still not working. Is there any other way to get this screen?
I really need some help there. :?:

Thanks
Ajohn

Sorry, duplicate post. Keep getting a Debug error, and didn't know that the post was going through.

Good Day 8)
And thanks for all your answers. I did try all this tips already and still cant come to this screen to reset my thinkpad. (my C drive is not compressed is well)
Is there not a other way to start this screen under a running windows xp prof. ? maybe under dos?
To make some thinks clear:
When I start my thinkpad and I press the blue “access ibm” it starts “dos” some seconds nothing happen and right after this it starts to reboot the system. I run my virus software 2 times already over the system – nothing. Reinstall some of the software from IBM I did is well today and yesterday… but still nothing happen there.
In the moment I’m a bit clueless :?:  :?: what else I can do… so I really need some prof. advise to fix that.
Thanks all of you
Ajohn

If F11 doesn´t work either try this:

If you don´t have an usb floppy drive burn a boot CD using virtual floppy drive:

Hi,
I'm having a similar problem. I somehow hosed the bootsector by installing linux, although I didn't touch the MBR, and I start linux via the windows-loader. So it looked like this thread was the solution to all my problems. :D I created the bootdisk on my old computer, burned it on cd, and booted my thinkpad with it. However I get a few errors at the beginning, as the program can't write on the cd (gee...). I press _f_ail a few times, then the program starts. It says press enter to continue, but when I press enter nothing happens. The program freezes.

Have you other guys had the problem as well, and how did you solve it? Or has anybody an idea what could have gone wrong?

Thanks for your help!
Bernd
