Does UPS always suck this bad when shipping Thinkpads?

#1 Post by ricerocket » Wed Nov 30, 2005 4:54 pm

Okay, granted its overseas shipping, but the level of incompetency is astounding... Lose it, twice. Import it, THREE [censored] TIMES over 3 days. What's going on here?

Yep.

There's still shipping issues.

I called lenovo about every three days.

You can email ups (via ups.com), but they'll just give you the party line and tell you its lenovo's fault.

Fwiw, I had to wait about 2 weeks for the machine to get out of customs.

The item seems to be in the hands of UPS now, since they're able to scan it. They've scanned it for import 6 times already.

it's the us customs, the us gov't does not have the money for customs, but we have TONS for the war. i got a call from UPS today telling me that it takes a day for a request for paperwork to get to hk, then takes another day for the paperwork to come back. i didn't know the internet lags that much......

I am awaiting the arrival of my wireless card for my laptop that I purchased on ebay. Free 2nd day shipping, however like you my wireless card has been scanned for import about 6 times (once a day)! I called UPS and they said that they cant do anything about it, and to talk to the people who shipped it. I emailed leveno but haven't heard back.

What is the normal wait time for it to clear customs?

UPS shipping from Hong Kong

#6 Post by tdilts » Fri Dec 30, 2005 9:43 am

I guess we're all having the same problem with UPS bringing items from Hong Kong. I e-mailed them a copy of the shipping destination tracking problems from their site. I also called them yesterday and was told by UPS that they have done everything they can to get my computer to the US and it is now US Customs problem. I beg to differ. If UPS is not part of the solution, they ARE part of the problem. I guess UPS should stop touting their international shipping business since they are unable to help their customers label their packages properly to get through customs. I guess I'm at their mercy for another couple of days. Unfortunately this was a Christmas gift for my daughter who lives in Chicago. She heads back to Chicago on Sunday 1/1/06 and we'll have to pay shipping from Omaha to Chicago to send it to her. This is very frustrating.

perhaps our orders are in the same group. as of this moment, i still get the:

A PROCESSING ERROR AT DESTINATION CAUSED THIS DELAY;THE PACKAGE WAS MISSORTED AT THE HUB. IT HAS BEEN REROUTED TO THE CORRECT DESTINATION SITE

which is annoying as hell, as i've got work to do on it.

Im really wondering what "2-day shipping" means, becuase it defently dfint happen like this

"2 Business Days Delivery: Your order should be received by 5:00 p.m. on the second business day after shipping."

They might as well say its overnight, because it wont affect the long wait period.

i had ground shipping at first, then i called and asked for free 2 day shipping, as the promotion came out the next day. they willingly gave it to me, without any hesitation, now i know why

On second thought would calling them do any good? The order via UPS 2 day has been shipped on the 27/05, with the projected delivery date moved back to 4/06. Its all the same stuff with warehouses and clearing agencies, but has anybody got results after calling?

I called them, and the person explained to me that they're simply too inept to get my stuff through customs.
