X22 top casing...

#1 Post by scrible88 » Fri Dec 02, 2005 2:18 pm

Will this fit an x22?

I need to replace my top panel due to a nasty superglue spill. It is just on the very top of the notebook and can't seem to get it off with anything. Easiest thing to do would be just replace that piece of the plastic shell. Will that fit my x22?

Thanks!

The X20 and X22 have different part numbers for the LCD cover so I'd say the odds are it won't fit.

As for removing the superglue, have you tried one of the proprietary "superglue remover" solvents? Or acetone (nail polish remover)? Either could damage the plastic though so best to try on an inconspicuous area first.

With a dremel and some, umm, superglue, you could get it to work

Anyway, according to 24p2975.pdf (the X2x Hardware Maintenance Manual), the correct part is either 26P9820 (if you don't have internal WiFi) or 26P9819 (if you do). IIRC, someone said that it was in the $33 area from IBM themselves.
