I just received my T42p ordered 6/28.
Does anyone have suggestion as to things to do or not to do
after unpacking?

Thanks in advance for suggestions.
Thx,
Mike

never ever fully discharge the battery

I've lost about 5Wh because of booting Linux without battery management and falling asleep, that's about 20 minutes of low-intensive computing :(

(and no, the battery doesn't gain it's charge back, at least not in 3-4 cycles)

have fun with your thinkpad

Yeah nesen, that really got my goat man. I followed the battery maintenance help and discharged my A20p battery and lost 40 minutes of juice. I had a good 2.5 hrs left on the battery now I get 1:50 of time on the dang thing. Who wrote that stuff anyways? You know I was trying to refresh this old battery because I bought a new one from a supplier on ebay and when I got it I totally discharged it and it MELTED. Luckily it didn't damage my thinkpad. DO NOT discharge your battery, you will be sorry.

Interesting.... I have a question,

What is the safe limit to prevent this from happening? 10%? 5%? Or...
