FS/FT: IBM Dock I for ThinkPad 750, 755 and 760 Laptops

#1 Post by AlphaKilo470 » Sat Dec 03, 2005 3:05 pm

I have a Dock I w/ User guide that I would like to trade away or sell.

The computers compatible with this device include the ThinkPad 750 series, 755 series and 760 series. I don't think a 765 would fit properly though the connector is still the same.

This dock is pretty much barebones but it does add an ISA expansion slot and room for a SCSI CD or hard drive, however, the scsi connector is proprietary so you can't use any normal SCSI devices in it. This dock also has decent quality sterio speakers, RCA outputs, external SCSI connector (wierd IBM style, needs wierd IBM cable), 2 VGA outs, a PS/2 keyboard connector and a PS/2 mouse connector, a serial port and a printer port.

Also, if interested as an option for a small amount extra, I have a SoundBlaster AWE32 I can install and since the AWE32 has an IDE port. I can also hook a 1gb Seagate hard drive up to that.

If anyone is interested in buying or trading for this device, PM me or leave a reply.

Just a curious question from someone who's been using one of these for a long time with a 760XL: exactly where do you put the the IDE drive from the AWE card's IDE port? Is there room to thread a cable from the ISA card to the internal drive bay?

before I install the AWE32, I hook the ide cable to the drive, hook the docks supplied power cable to the drive then slide the drive into one of the mounts for the scsi cd (only one side of the mount can be used as it's wider than the drive) then I install the AWE32 then hook the IDE cable from the drive into it.

Thanks for that. Actually, the dock includes its own IDE connector, which requires a special extra cable for use with the 760 series, if I remember. That can be used with a 2nd HDD adapter that slides into the front. But your solution sounds easier...

I usually prefer not to bump but I just don't like seeing good equipment going to waste and I don't want to throw this thing away.

I have decided that the dock will include the buyers choice of a SoundBlaster AWE32 and a 1gb internal hard drive or a modem at no extra cost. If anyone owns a 750, 755 or 760 laptop computer, this would be a perfect means for adding extra storage to your computer as well as expanding it.

Aside from making the SoundBlaster and the 1gb hard drive a standard option instead of something to bargain for, things still stand for the most part as the original offer stated: a user guide is included and I'm open to just about any bid or trade offer.
