Replacing a System Board ... Horror Stories? No Problem?
IBM says they recommend a new system board to solve my power loss problem while in hibernation mode. See my other post for the 411.
Who here has had a system board replaced, and:
1) Had no problems, the issue was resolved
or
2) Had problems, the issue was not resolved, and/or more problems were caused?
Basically I'm trying to decide if it's worth the risk to replace the system board. Right now, the battery kicks into charge mode every couple of days, as opposed to every couple of weeks (that's how my T21 was, anyway). The extra cycles on the battery would add up over time, but new batteries are cheap compared to the headaches with a flaky system (assuming that were to happen post-system board change).
Thoughts?
Thanks, kj

Its your computer but if it were mine I would forego the new system board and let the battery charge as required. If your TP is working well other than this one problem, I would be hesitant to risk problems with a system board change, yet if doen right would cure your problem with the "leak".
I am not sure if the charger kicking in would result in a full cycle for your battery, but it would not be a full cycle and should not shorten the battery life too much.

I had a somewhat similar problem where the new battery on my new T41 was draining at about 1% every 1 or 2 days. After trying a replacement battery, IBM replaced the system board. It doesn't seem to have caused any new problems.
