Docking Station II T43 Audio Problem

#1 Post by herbertw » Mon Dec 05, 2005 5:26 am

Hi Everybody,

Is there a possibility to turn off the internal speakers of my T43 while it is staying in the docking station? I connected the docking station to my amplifier and the sound is ok, but the internal speakers are playing too. When I turn them off, the sound from the docking station is not working anymore.

Any suggestions?

Insert a dummy plug in the headphone jack.

Set the external audio device as the default audio device in the device manager.

Hi,

it is not an external sound-device. It's the internal device which is "routed" to the docking station.

Yeah, the port on the dock is a line out, the port on the computer is a headphone out...that's why they are active at the same time.

I actually have an old USB soundcard attached to my port replicator, so I don't have this problem...it's a Turtle Beach Audio Advantage Micro.

Search this site for your answer. I've read several threads on this issue, but I don't remember if there were any other solutions.

Instead of turning off the voume, just lower the volume all the way down.

If I turn down the volume it does turn down the volume of the dockingstation too.

Use the volume buttons on the laptop itself (to the left of the power button).

Turn the volume down all the way using them, as they just control the external speakers on the T43...not any of the outputs.

I've had my T43 hooked up to my stereo system like this for months & it works like a charm.

Yeah I have external speakers plugged into my Port Replicator. I turn the laptops volume down all the way (not muting) using the buttons on the TP and use the volume control on the actual speakers to adjust the volume.

Simple!

Using da keyboard customizer utility, you can map an external keyboard (if you use one on the Dock) to mute or lower the TP's volume, without having to use the buttons.

I find that if they're 2/3 of the way down, my desktop speakers just drown out the internal speakers.

Dummy plug is what I use.. just cut it off a dead set of headphones or buy one at Radioshack for a few notes.

It's annoying that dock/replicator does not bypass internal speakers but understandable and not too much of a problem.

Great! It works! No dummy required!

Thanks a lot!
