Left Arrow Key Problem -T23 2647

#1 Post by BruisedQuasar » Tue Dec 06, 2005 12:30 pm

This may be a coincidence but when I experimented with using the trackpoint large button my left arrow key stopped working. I opened Notebook. I cannot move the cursor left in a Notebook or Notepad document. I can move it in Windows 2000 drop down boxes.

I thought the problem might be software, until I discovered (while writing this post) I can work the left arrow key, provided I press hard.

Can this be user repaired? If so is there a link here for repairing a hard to use key?

I fixed the problem. Somehow, trying out the large trackpoint scroll button caused two malfunctions. My left arrow key greatly reduced sensitivity, requiring a very firm press and hold and my Power LED lights stopped working.

I ran System Mechanic utilities to repair the registry & I removed the IBM key utility. Everything is working fine again. I run IBM supplied W2K on a 2647-2TU T23 & I have all the IBM updates installed, except I removed the programmable key utility
