Need help with R51 performance issue

#1 Post by Krug » Tue Dec 06, 2005 1:21 pm

TPad R51 1500Mhz machine often runs at only 299Mhz or 599 Mhz.. instead of fully at 1500 Mhz. What is happening w that and how do I assure it is running full speed all of the time?

All ideas much appreciated.. Krug

That's the magic of Intel's Centrino system; the machine speed varies according to perceived load in order to prolong battery life.

If you want to keep the the machine going full-tilt all the time, there are numerous settings available in the power management utilities. I'm not using my own R51 at the moment, so I can't tell you exactly what the path through the menus is.

Thanks for the suggestion.. Yes I can understand that strategy when you are in battery mode.. however when I am plugged in to power. one should expect full utilization of the CPU... seems to me. Looked thru the power management options and have set everything I think related to max performance.. Will monitor that for a bit.
