I have a T42 with a Matshita UJ-822S DVD Writer.
When using Roxio Easy Creator 7 to burn a DVD, Roxio reports that the DVD was burned succesfully but then a window opens with a "transcode error" message. The DVD created is unreadable on any machine.
I have removed IBM's DLA software, given some of the recommendations on this forum, but that doesn't solve the problem.
I can use Record Now to burn DVDs from an image file created with Roxio, but cannot seem to burn the DVDs using Roxio.
The Matshita drive is not listed as one of those supported on Roxio's website. Has anyone succesfully used Roxio to burn a DVD with this drive?
Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks.

It's possible that the RecordNow! software is conflicting with Roxio. If you haven't deleted the C:\IBMTOOLS\APPS\RECNOW\ directory and files, you could uninstall IBM RecordNow! from Add or Remove Programs, then reinstall it later if need be.
I would suggest uninstalling RecordNow! and Roxio. Reboot, then reinstall Roxio. See if it works then.
If you still have problems, you might check out Roxio's website for troubleshooting. Perhaps there is a patch file you need.

Definitely check Roxio's website. My past experience is that patches are often required to update the supported drives for the Roxio suite (that's my experience with M a t s u s h i t a CD burners only, however, not DVD burners). Spotty drive support is one reason I stopped using the Roxio product and switched to Nero, which has performed flawlessly.

A similar thing happened to my old HP Laptop that I replaced; it was resolved by a solution similar to what GomJabber posted. You can also choose to take the path pipspeak did as well.

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.
