Dead Backlight

#1 Post by Brillig » Fri Dec 09, 2005 3:14 pm

The backlight on my R31 died a day after a fall from my bed. I have an old T21 with the same sized screen also in better condition. Are they interchangeable, and if so, is there a manual to do this? I'm not too eager to pull them apart.

Thanks.

Not sure if they are 100% interchangeable, but there was someone in the forum who previously posted about taking the backlight from a scanner and getting it to work in their display. The backlight was a little shorter and caused darker spots on the edges, but it apparently worked none the less.

You can try using your Hardware Maintenance Manual to get to the LCD, and then you might be able to use the sticky at the top of the TP600 forum, on replacing the backlight in a TP600, as a guide. I am sure they they are different, but it might help.
