T40 wireless connection with encryption to Linksys WRT54G

i'm able to connect my T40 (2373-92U) to a Linksys wireless router WRT54G with security disabled. My wireless card is 802.11a/b Wireless(MPCI) or dual-band Wi-Fi Wireless Mini PCI Adapter,
driver provider Atheros Communications
dated 2004-7-22
version 3.1.102.23.

However when i activate security (WPA/AES or WEP) on the router i am unable to get a connection. everything else is the same and i dont move from my position at all.

i read on a separate post in this forum that the Atheros PCI card wont work with Linksys using encryption but not sure if that comment was light-hearted.

any light you can throw on this appreciated. TIA. Dar

Dar, you haven't mentioned what you did on your T40 after enabling security on the WRT54G. Did you set the same security settings?
