Beeping noise on the left side (sounds like morse code)

#1 Post by philip » Fri Dec 09, 2005 7:53 pm

Hello,

I am hearing a high pitch beeping noise on the left side of my T43. At first I thought that it is the network but now I am not sure. It comes from inside where the network port and the audio ports are. Clearly to the left of the fan.

Edit: "Just found a better way to describe it. It sounds like morse code."

Does anybody have any idea what this might be?

Thanks,

Philip

I hear something similar if running on battery power with max perf. profile. But if I change the profile to lower cpu speed rate the noise stopps. Maybe it has something to do with the power supply, because if running on AC I don't hear anything.

I think this might be related to the high-pitch buzzing noise issue; it usually goes away if you toggle the power settings. For me, I have an "Everything Minimal" setting in the Power Manager and an "Everything Maximal" setting as well; if I ever hear a little buzzing once I get close to the source, I just toggle the power schemes and it goes away. Happened to me on battery about 5 times if I remember correctly. HTH :)

Could it be electrical "humming" coming from the power inverter thingy for the LCD?
