formatted: Access IBM button does nothing inside windows
I recently formatted my entire T43 2686E7U.
I am not sure if i formatted the defualt backup partition. How can i be sure that i did? I remember deleting a partition in the windows XP setup that had no Drive letter name. Was that it?
Anyway everyhting works good now. Everything was installed via the Software Installer. I am still missing things like InterVideo WinDVD.
My main thing now is that i remember that the blue Access IBM button is supposed to do something when inside windows. Its supposed to open a IBM help of sorts.
Mine does nothing now. How do i fix this? I cannot seem to find anything pretaining to this on lenovos support website.

Go to admin tools, computer mgmt from control panel, open disk mgmt, it will show what partitions are on your hard drive. There should be an NTFS and smaller FAT32. If not, you have only the windows partition.
If you made the CD's I'd redo the whole thing before you get to attached to your current files, programs. The CD's will recreate the recovery partition on your drive.
If you have the recovery partition and it will not boot, you'll need to modify/repair the boot file for it. There are threads here that help with that procedure.

To get the blue Access IBM button to work inside Windows after a format :
Download the file under "Access IBM" (choose the T43/p since you have a T43
)

That's the link straight to it.
Yeah, you can't be TOO Software Installer dependant, hehe...
I was also scratching my head when my Access IBM button wasn't working.

The Software Installer doesn't link to *all* the latest updates, just the ones that IBM/Lenovo have gotten some release feedback on and have tested successfully. Access Connections 4.0 is a good example.

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

I just wish I could reprogram that blue button in Windows to, say, open the Thinkvantage folder under Start Menu ... where most of the tools live anyway. After a while ... one doesn't need "momma" to help find the utilties. And the button goes to waste.
