I found some problems in other forum discussing the signal of bluetooth in T43. They said the bluetooth can't work very well with Sony K750C headset and the other brand (BT250) headset. The test distance is only 1 meter. Did you meet this problem?
The different model of BMDC can affect on the performance of bluetooth. I remember as far as now totally 3 kinds of BMDC. Maybe different manufacturer has different performance?
How about your bluetooth in T43?

I think it is very manufacturer dependent; I have gotten a Motorola Headset and Cell Phone to work fine with my system. Although the standard of Bluetooth is pretty well agreed upon, perhpas one of the most adhered to standards next to IEEE 802.11 for Wireless, different devices have, annoyingly, different ways of "sniffing" networks and hotspots out and slightly different ways of "locking on" Laptops have a larger bluetooth range than most mobile devices because they can accomodate slightly larger chipsets as well as afford to feed more power and get rid of more heat than can a bluetooth enabled mobile deivce. So while the Thinkpad, or any other Bluetooth equipped laptop, may say that they know that the device is there and are ready, the device may not be within its own transmit range. The devices transmit range seems to vary quite a bit from maker to maker. Another good example is trying to lock onto a weak WiFi Hotspot somewhere, you know it is there, your system can see it, but cannot reliably connect. As to the inner software and driver workings, got me there.
