Lenovo broke their support site?? Auto-detect ain't working

#1 Post by firefly » Sun Dec 11, 2005 10:26 am

As of this morning the "auto detect my system" on Lenovo's page isn't working for me. This goes for the download/parts lookup/warranty lookup section of the site. Am I the only one having trouble or the site is broken?

It just detected my system fine, do you have the ActiveX installed and you might want to allow pop ups from that site.

I've used the auto-detect before and it was OK. Just stopped working all of a sudden.

Is it possible to manually re-install the required ActiveX components?

I would wait a day or two before changing anything on your ThinkPad. Most likely Lenovo's site is down for maintenance in your area.

Didn't see you were in Hong Kong, it may be down, keep trying, I know from my experience you have to have their ActiveX program installed that you download from their site the first time you use it. Windows SP2 pop up blocker will try to block this, and you have to "allow" it to load.
This is really not "changing anything" in the configuration of your computer, don't know where that came from.

It's the weekend, and IBM/Lenovo does site maintenance on the weekend, particularly on Sunday. Try again tomorrow.

It's Monday night in Hong Kong and still no go... :(

I tried to remove the ActiveX plug-in (eGather or something acc to Lenovo) and reinstall. But the page just gives me an error.

At least I can still access all the warranty & parts info by entering the model and serial manually...I guess I won't stress over it...thanks for all the help!

Monday night here in Los Angeles, CA, USA and it's working fine.

Check your router if you have one to see if you've disabled ActiveX controls.
