R40 wireless problem and questions. Need help! (Conflict?)

#1 Post by JEBB » Sun Dec 11, 2005 11:20 am

My R40 2681-LU1 wireless connection had been working fine for months at home. Yesterday I went to another location and got onto their network albeit with a bit of difficulity. Now I (mostly) can't get on my home internet connection. I had got on once last night but not at all today.

I suspect I have a conflict that was previously not there. In the notification area I have icons for both Windows Network Connection and IBM Access Connections.

Question: Should I have only one of those icons or both?

Question: If I click the 'EXIT' that comes up when I right click on the IBM Access Connections icon am I turning off the Cisco card so no connection is possible?

Question: If I click the 'EXIT' that comes up when I right click on the the IBM Access Connections icon will I be able to restart that program if necessary or will it be gone forever?

Question: Do I need to remove the Cisco software? If so, how?

Thanks

I got impatient and Exited the IBM connection. The icon is gone. I still can't get the Windows one to connect.

Well I restarted it and voila! it's on my network! It also worked after a second restart.

It must have been a conflict but there wasn't any messages that indicated that was the case.

So now I must be using only the Windows Wireless Connection.

PS:
I recognized the possibility of a conflict although both programs had worked together for a long time. I know a little about computers so what would the regular user have been able to do?
