Hi All:
Have a T40 with the IBM a/b/g mini PCI card in it with a microsoft MN-700 (G) base station.
After reading through the group, I have disabled IBM Access Connections and am using Windows to handle the wirelss connections. That still seems to be flakey, but it works.
My main problem seems to be the power of the signal. It is always very low, even when the laptop is within 2 feet of the router. If I move the laptop 10 feet from the router it drops the signal. Any ideas?
The router is close to my desktop monitor, so I am wondering if that is interfereing with the signal. I have tried several channels for the signal, and that doesn't seem to make a difference - although I have not tried them all.
TIA,
Steve
a/b/g wireless reception
I have a linksys 11b router and it's about a foot to the right of my monitor and I don't have any problems. As long as the antennas are hooked up right, you should get good signal strength. I have never changed a mini-PCI card myself, but others have told me reconnecting the antenna leads well can sometimes be tricky.
