T40 can't maintainwireless internet connection

T40 2373-72U cannot maintain a steady wireless internet connection with Linksys WRT54G 802.11g broadband router inside the house, even without any sources of interference. Turned power settings for the wireless radio to low but without any noticeable changes. Any help? Thanks.

The 2373-72U has an Intel 802.11b card.

Do you have the latest wireless driver installed? What about the Linksys firmware update?

a customer who got a new 2373HTU reported haveing a flaky connection, so he got a new wifi card which cured the problem..

if you have a backup HDD, try a fresh preload..
that way you can sort it out between thinkpad hardware and software..

or it might be the linksys AP..
i have had crappy luck with linksys in the last year..
to the point i tossed them in ye olde junkee boxxee and bit buckett and switched to cheap netgear..

try rebooting the AP too..
