SD Card reader

#1 Post by Sleepy » Mon Dec 12, 2005 6:48 pm

Hello. I am interested in buying a PCMCIA card reader for my T43. I found this one

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002J ... s&v=glance

on Amazon and I was wondering if anybody could tell me if this works with Thinkpad (I have T43). Sorry for the dumb question

I have a sandisk flash card reader I got for 12 bucks at staples, it works great in both laptops the biggest card I use is a 512. The only thing I dislike about it is trying to remove the card without pulling out the whole device, you can almost grab it with your fingernail but usually wind up pulling out the whole card reader, so I just use the safely remove hardware and then the eject button.

Personally, I like having a jumpdrive that I can switchout the cards with anything that I'd like. I use this:

Lexar JumpDrive Trio, it takes 3 different card types. There is a newer one that takes something like 4-6 different types. I like these because they are 100% portable. I can move info from my laptops to my PCs without a problem...even on the 1.1 USB drives.

By getting the PCMCIA version, you have limited yourself to laptops only.

I have one of these:. Can read 18 different types of cards for only about 15 bucks. Works in LINUX.

Does not need special drivers with XP SP2.

I own a T30 not a T4x but I use both of the SanDisk readers:
-PCMCIA that reads 6-in-1
-PCMCIA that reads CF

Both work great. I just leave them in the bay, that way they are there when I need them and there is nothing sticking out.

Good product, cheers.
