Standby mode problems

Hi!

I recently bought ThinkPad T42, but when I press Fn+F4 the system doesn`t enter standby mode

. Other Fn+... combinations work without problems.
Can anybody help me?

See if this might fix it. Go to Start > Control Panel > Power Options > Advanced tab. At the bottom, make sure the setting is 'Standby' for 'When I press the sleep button on my computer:'.

Congratulations on getting your first laptop. I hope it serves you well. Most of us on this forum love our ThinkPads. They are great laptops. Of course I'm biased. I have a T42 and am very happy with it. I don't regret the purchase at all.
