Lenovo says that this is not a CRU. Why?? How hard is it to replace? Thanks.

They have the definitions listed on their site somewhere. I remember seeing them when I looked at replacement keyboard bezels myself. I think one of the points in question is the number of screws you have to remove to perform the replacement.

I replaced the keyboard bezel on my previous laptop, a Toshiba Tecra S1, a few times because I had both a Danish and an English one available. That wasn't hard at all - although, it was a bit tricky the first time because I had to figure out where to press and pull in order to loosen the bezel.

I sent an inquiry to IBM about the keyboard bezels for my T43p and they made sure to include a warning in their reply that if the notebook was damaged during installation of the keyboard bezel then the warranty would be void... I'm not sure if the case would be any different if it was classified as a CRU rather than an FRU.

I am going to assume that by a 15" T, you mean the T43, but I don't know which one.

Here is the Hardware Maintenance Manual for ThinkPad T43, T43p (2668, 2669, 2678, 2679, 2686, 2687):
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/mo ... 9t2393.pdf

Here is the Hardware Maintenance Manual for ThinkPad T43 (1871, 1872, 1873, 1874, 1875, 1876):
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/mo ... 9t6193.pdf

It will show you step by step (with pics) how to remove your keyboard.

Note: This would also fall under the FAQ section of the forum (#8, I think)

Perfect! Answers my question. I have both a T43 and T42p. One is personal, the other is owned by my company. Sorry about the title of my post, the last few characters were cut off, should have read T43. Thanks.
