Want to get a new T41 keyboard

#1 Post by Jeff85 » Tue Dec 13, 2005 11:44 pm

*Edit* Actually what happened is that the cap for my down arrow key broke off, and the plastic hinge that keeps it in place also broke, so the key won't stay on. Do I need to order a whole new keyboard, or is it possible to just get a new down arrow key? Unfortunately, my warranty expired a while ago.

If I want to order from IBM / Lenovo, it's under the retail part order at
http://www-132.ibm.com/webapp/wcs/store ... logId=-840
right?

Unfortunately, I don't know what the part number is, and I can't take apart my laptop at the moment. Can anyone tell me what number I want to enter, or if I'm completely wrong in the way to order a new keyboard (in which case how I should go about getting one)?

You can go to: Parts lookup to find which keyboard shipped with your system. Unfortunately, some of the part numbers don't seem to be current.

You can see the keyboards available for the T41 at: Keyboard service parts - ThinkPad T40/p, T41/p, T42/p.

BTW, the NMB seems to be the preferred keyboard. The choice of manufacturer makes no difference in compatibility.
