battery 600e

#1 Post by OldManClayton » Wed Dec 14, 2005 2:13 pm

HI! I might ask my mom for a new battery for Christmas, but I know that some batteries have issues with my 600e model. The only way I can get it is off of ebay. Is it possible that my current battery is still good, but I'm getting wrong readings? I don't know, but my laptop lasts for almost exactly 2 minutes on battery life. If anyone knows specifically what kind/model/company I'm looking for, PLEASE POST. Also, about how long would a battery last if I used it to its full extent daily? (would I have to buy another one next year?)

Thanks.

Buy a new battery from Lenovo (who now makes ThinkPads). They are selling batteries for any 600 machine for $59, and they are new.

If you use the battery every day, it should last about 1.5 years or so, and give you around 2.5 hours of use when new.

You can also sometimes find *new* UltraSlimBay batteries on eBay for pretty cheap ($25 or so).

600E Battery??

#3 Post by dg1890 » Thu Jan 19, 2006 11:09 pm

My problem sounds like the battery also, but not sure. Error codes 00161 & 00163 display when my 600E is powered on, then it goes to date and time to be set, etc. It finally freezes on ""OFF(0) > ON (1).

Does this mean "dead battery" while using the AC adapter? Thanks.

161 & 163 are CMOS battery errors, which mean that you need to replace the CMOS battery. Check the FAQ for a copy of your Hardware Maintenance Manual. The HMM will give you information on the part number, as well as how to get to and remove the CMOS (under the memory panel, by the way)

You can also search eBay for a replacement CMOS/Backup battery.
