replacement battery for X20?
has anyone ordered one of the replacement batteries for the X20/21/22/23 from ebay?
there's a couple of capacities, just wondering if anyone had any experience with sellers and battery quality.
thanks!

I would like to know the same thing. My x22 says it has 180 charge cycles and 28.62 Wh left of the original 43.20 Wh.
It still holds about a 2 hour charge on highest performance with the screen on full brightness while surfing the web/documents/email, etc.

you're lucky... i only have 70 cycles but i did a recalibration as ibm recommends and now it only lasts 20 mins.scrible88 wrote:I would like to know the same thing. My x22 says it has 180 charge cycles and 28.62 Wh left of the original 43.20 Wh.

That sucks hardcore. The battery was probably not used much before you got it and it ruined the battery life being on the charger 24/7.shinjiplus wrote:you're lucky... i only have 70 cycles but i did a recalibration as ibm recommends and now it only lasts 20 mins.scrible88 wrote:I would like to know the same thing. Mine went from about 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours after I did 7-8 full 100%-0% charge cycles.

I have to say I've sent a battery off to BatteryRefill.com and they did appear to do the job.
They were slow to get it back, almost a month unlike the week claimed. Also unresponsive to emails but then I got a rush of "we had problems with our email server please forgive us!".
Anyhow, the battery has a few spots of glue if I look for them where it was opened up I suppose, but nothing I would even call cosmetic. It does hold a pretty good charge now, although the moderate increase in mAh they offer is still to me good but nothing to write home about.
I wish these things were user-refillable so I could go out and buy a set of high-power batteries if I chose to and use those. I mean I know there are Li-Ion and NiMh batteries out there upwards of 2,300 mAh I would pay extra to have a single "ultra" long-lived battery.
For an X20 series they would probably be a decent choice as it's hard to find good batteries on EBay that you don't think it's some guy in his apartment slapping stickers that say NEW onto a used battery.

i got one from ebay earlier this year. it's design capacity is 4400mah.
i have about 14 cycles on it now and it holds 3800mah. just order one from someone with a lot of positive feedback and u'll be fine. btw my battery is a generic one made in china with sanyo cells. when i'm done beating the hell out of this battery i will not hesitate to order another one of these from ebay. u might want to ask the seller about the manufacturing date as the batteries they're selling may never have been used but could have been manufactured at an older date. even if they're older they will still work but it's better to get as new as possible since the battery condition will be dependant on both the age of the battery and the number of cycles on the unit.

I just bought an X22 on eBay for $300 and was delighted to find that the battery (a real IBM) has only 1 cycle on it and entered service in October 05. Judging by the rest of the machine, which doesn't have a single mark on it (not even the space bar), I think that this "off lease" computer is never used. It even had the original factory OS load and the recovery partition, with no additional software installed.

Yeah that's a mistake many make.
"NEW Still in original sealed bag" battery could have been sitting on the shelf for a while. Unfortunately lithium-ion batteries degrade the moment they leave the factory. So for example I've got an X22 battery with a low-cycle count but it's enough years old that it only gets about half it's original storage. Date of manufacture good to know, if it's more than a couple of years old then pass it by.
